Dr. Bruce Weiner

Bruce R. Weiner VMD

Since early childhood, Dr. Bruce Weiner has known he wanted to become an animal-care professional. He surrounded himself with pets of all types, from dogs and cats to tadpoles, frogs, and snakes. Legend has it that he informed his teacher on the very first day of school that he was going to become a veterinarian when he grew up! Dr. Weiner is living his dream to this day—he’s the chief veterinarian and owner of Cambridge Veterinary Care.

Dr. Weiner’s path to veterinary medicine began right here in Cambridge; his family owned an apartment building right around the corner from what would one day be the Cambridge Veterinary Care facility. Dr. Weiner attended the University of Massachusetts at Amherst to study zoology, then entered the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Veterinary Medicine three years later. While in veterinary school, he taught microbiology to nursing students, and also worked at the Veterinary Library during his studies, before graduating with his Doctorate in 1975.

Dr. Weiner began his career at a local animal hospital before opening his own practice, Dr. Weiner’s Pet Care Center, with his wife in 1978. Cambridge Veterinary Care—beautifully designed by an award-winning veterinary architect—opened its doors for business in 1991, and Dr. Weiner has been happily serving the pets and owners of the area ever since. In 2006, the clinic underwent a major renovation to become the state-of-the-art, double-level facility it is today.

Medically, Dr. Weiner is particularly fond of surgery, dermatology, and dentistry. Always keen to stay up-to-date with the ever-changing veterinary profession, he regularly attends continuing-education seminars throughout the country and has completed multiple courses and workshops in various facets of animal medicine.

Dr. Weiner and his wife, Myrna, have two wonderful sons named Harry and Ben. He and Myrna share their lives with two cats, Bentley and Midnight, and also own a pair of cats named Ace and Buzz who live here at Cambridge Veterinary Care.

Outside of work, Dr. Weiner enjoys gardening, visiting museums, going to the theatre, and spending time with his family and close friends.
