5 Great Reasons To Be Thankful For Cats

Thanksgiving is coming up fast. While that seasonal food is great, it’s important to remember the true meaning of this special holiday: gratitude. We are definitely grateful for our feline friends! Read on as a Somerville, MA vet lists some reasons to be thankful for kitties.

Purr Therapy

One of kitties’ cutest traits is the fact that they actually vibrate with happiness. Fluffy’s purr isn’t just cute, though. It’s very relaxing, and can be a great comfort on bad days. Believe it or not, cat purrs also have special properties. Cats generally vibrate at 25 to 150 hertz. These frequencies have been shown to promote healing, and are often used in physical therapy.

Live Entertainment

Our feline pals are full of unique and adorable quirks. They’re also often hilarious! It’s hard not to chuckle at some of Fluffy’s antics, such as her box obsession, her playful antics, or her habit of sleeping in odd places and positions. In fact, watching your frisky pet pouncing on a toy may be just as fun for you as it is for her. If laughter is good for the soul, then these little furballs are truly blessings.

Sleeping Aids

As you may have noticed, cats are very, very good at relaxing. It’s always great to settle down at night with your furry buddy on your lap. If your fuzzy pal starts her engine, you may soon find yourself yawning shortly after. (Of course, Fluffy also makes a great alarm clock, but that’s another topic.)

One reason we love cats so much is the fact that they offer unconditional love and friendship, which are truly precious. They also help turn our houses into homes. Time spent with kitties is never wasted!

Although Fluffy has tried very hard to make us think of her as a cruel, cold-hearted killer, we aren’t buying it. Many of our feline companions are extremely affectionate, and love to be petted or held. Some cats start purring as soon as you pet them or pick them up. Even more aloof cats can bond very closely with their human pals. Pay lots of attention to your kitty and keep that little motor going!

All of us at want to wish you a safe, happy, and healthy Thanksgiving. Please reach out to us, your Somerville, MA vet clinic, anytime. We’re happy to help!
